President of OSI Group David McDonald

David G. MacDonald, the current head of the OSI Group was born in 1902, in Pennsylvania, United States. He attended Iowa State University pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. In 1987, while at ISU he was awarded the Wallace E. Barron Outstanding Senior Award. After his graduation, MacDonald joined the OSI Group working through various posts until he assumed the position of its CEO.

Dave is the current chair of the North American Meat Institute, a position he assumed in November 2015. At OSI, he specializes in Computer Support Cooperative Work, Human Computer Interaction, and Large Scale Information Systems. During 2004, he was awarded the ISU Alumni Association of Young Alumni for his activities in ISU’s Agricultural Entrepreneurship Initiative. Dave is married to his wife Malinda and is a doting father of six children.

Dave, in an interview with ProvisionerTV channel, explained that OSI’s acquisition of Baho Food was aimed at expanding the company’s market share in Europe. According to Dave, the move will help OSI evolve, innovate, and meet the needs of an increasingly volatile consumer base. He further adds that the company is experiencing a few challenges in the implementation phase. Dave feels that these problems are a regular occurrence of any transitioning process or acquisition. However, as OSI is committed to ensuring goodwill through its obligation to suppliers, consumers, and product innovation, he expects implementation process to be straightforward, smooth, and fast.

In regards to the sustainability of OSI Group’s business model, acquiring Baho Food is a significant event. This move is a sign of the company’s growth potential under the direction of Dave MacDonald. Managing an international business requires some serious dedication, effort, and commitment. Accordingly, Dave’s capacity as a CEO is demonstrated by how fast and expediently he has managed to create global network of professionals in charge of OSI’s international business processes. Industry thought leaders hailed OSI’s move to acquire Baho Food as a master gambling stroke that resulted in the group emerging as the industry leader.
